We Could Be Heroes by Margaret Finnegan

We Could Be Heroes by Margaret Finnegan

A book written for readers in elementary and middle school (grades three through seven, according to the publisher), this is a sweet, funny, and uplifting story of two kids determined to save a dog from the mistreatment it is enduring at the hands of a thoughtless owner. Our “heroes,” Hank and Maisie, both know what it’s like to be in trouble—and to be considered “different” (different in a not good way).  Their determination to rescue this dog and give him a good life provides lessons in all kinds of things, including the power of friendship.

We Could Be Heroes will appeal to girls and boys alike and, quite probably, their parents, too.

About the author: Margaret Finnegan writes fiction and nonfiction for adult readers, and has recently ventured into writing for a younger audience. Published in February 2020, We Could Be Heroes is her debut young adult novel. It is now a Junior Library Guild Selection.
