This true story is a gripping tale of the courage and devotion of a man and his highly-trained dog. In 2004, Dowling and his military working dog (MWD) Rex were sent to face the daily dangers of the war in Iraq. They were part of the first Marine Corps military K9 teams sent to the front lines of combat since Vietnam. Rex’s job: sniffing out IEDs, hidden weapons, and suicide bombers. Mike Dowling’s job: leading his devoted dog Rex into the heart of danger in Iraq’s most deadly places.
Full-color photographs of Dowling and Rex before, during, and after deployment add an up-close and personal look into a way of life most of us will never experience.
