Homeward Bound, a 1993 movie based on the children’s classic book, The Incredible Journey (written by Sheila Burnford and published in 1963), is appealing to audiences of all ages—children and adults alike. The heart of the story follows the adventures of two dogs and a cat that have been staying with friends of their family, who are on a vacation. Convinced after a few days that their loved-ones must be in trouble, the trio heads back home, which is hundreds of miles away across the Sierra mountains. Filmed on location, the wildlife and stunning scenery are almost as captivating as the adventures of the three furry heroes. It’s wonderful escapism with a happy ending when you need that kind of entertainment.
